New Patients

At the Animal Hospital of Georgetown, we look forward to giving you the attention you need and your pets the care they deserve.

What you need to know

We see patients Monday through Friday, 8-5, and Saturday 8-12, by appointment.  Our schedule is kept somewhat flexible so that we can accommodate emergencies and urgent care cases when needed.

Walk-ins are welcome, however, we are a very busy practice, and we cannot compromise patient care due to over-booking.  Surgeries are by appointment only, Monday-Friday, and, in most cases, require a consultation prior to booking of a procedure.

We take your time–and ours–seriously! Appointments are usually 20-30 minutes long, and we strive to stay on schedule. Some appointments are scheduled for less or more time than others, depending on the services needed. Boosters may be in-and-out, but a sick pet needs more time.

To best fulfill your pet’s needs and schedule your appointment, please let us know about any problems and concerns you have when you call to request a visit. We appreciate you helping us stay on schedule by being on time to appointments and informing us in advance if something will take more time than expected.

What to expect

In our first visit, the front desk staff will take your basic information, and get as much of your pet’s history as we can.  The more we know, the better we can help your pet, so please have your pet’s records faxed to us in advance or bring them with you. We will scan it in to our digital record, and it will all be available to you in the future.

We will perform a full physical examination and visit with you about your pet’s lifestyle, medical history, and your concerns.  We are happy to answer any questions you have about food, medication, our philosophy on medicine and surgery, and anything else pet-care related. This visit is our opportunity to get to know you, your pet(s), and our role in their lives.  Additionally, if you have a pet with a chronic health issue, we can get oriented to his or her needs, and ensure a smooth transition of care from a previous veterinarian.

For your first visit, we would prefer to see you with your pet for a scheduled appointment.  We can certainly take you in as a drop-off if it is necessary, but we provide the best care when we can talk with you directly while we perform our exam.
